What is Therapy? Therapy is talking with an unbiased person who can help you process the thoughts, worries, and concerns you may be struggling with. Therapy is a safe place for you to share your feelings and learn strategies that can help you cope with or manage those thoughts and feelings.

The screenings you complete during pregnancy and postpartum are one way to monitor your mental health. Here’s some information about the screening tool. The Edinburgh Postnatal Depression Scale (EPDS) is a widely used tool for screening the emotional well-being of pregnant and postpartum women. We’ve put these questions in an easy-to-access format and will regularly send you texts/emails to answer these 10 questions. This screening tool is proven, researched, and quick. It should take less than 5 minutes to answer each time. Just like your doctor checks your blood pressure every visit, your mental health deserves the same regular check-in.

We ask you to be honest and know that there are no right or wrong answers. We know that this may be the first time you have even been asked about your feelings. Again, there are no wrong answers and absolutely no judgment. This is an opportunity for you to pause and think about how you’re feeling at that moment in time.

After you answer the questions, you’ll see a score. Depending on what that score is, we have helpful suggestions about things you can do to reduce stress or anxiety and take care of yourself. If your score indicates that you could benefit from additional support, we will reach out to you to share options.

Screening allows you to check in on your emotions and feelings, which can be hard to navigate during pregnancy and postpartum. Continuing to screen will help us keep a pulse on how you are doing and help you see how you are progressing. Just like those blood pressure readings, if we see a high score, we can better support you and help.
